Southern Star StarMail Help
System Upgrade - June 2010

We are very happy to announce an upgrade to our network with the installation of a new firewall.

The most noticeable change is the speed with which we handle email. Previously all incoming mail (including SPAM and Virus-infected email) was dealt with by our own servers. The new firewall now has that job.

If a vast amount of this mail hits our servers over a short period of time (an increasing trend) it placed a huge load on our mail servers. This resulted in a slower response handling (sending & receiving) of legitimate email.

This new firewall has already has a significant improvement to our network.

YOU will see :-

  1. A huge reduction in SPAM.
  2. Speedier email delivery and retrieval.

For the technically minded the new firewall utilises an industry-grade external ANTI-SPAM source (www.spamhaus.org ) which constantly monitors and publishes lists of known SPAMMERS. We use their lists to keep our firewall software current and active.

We still recommend using good Anti-Virus and Malware programs.

NOTE - Keep your PC up-to-date

  SSC.NET.AU Mail Support Server

Dear User,

Virus Update Alert For Your SSC.NET.AU Webmail Account.

We are currently carrying out an upgrade on our system, due to the fact that it has come to our notice that one or more of our subscribers are introducing a very strong virus which is spreading really fast into our system and it is affecting our network. We are trying to find out the specific user.

All Mail hub systems will undergo regularly scheduled maintenance. Access to your e-mail via the Web mail client will be unavailable for some time during this maintenance period. We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail account center i.e. homepage view. We shall be deleting old accounts which are no longer active to create more space for new accounts users. We have also investigated a system wide security audit to improve and enhance our current security against virus and spammers.

In order to continue using our services you are require to update and re-confirmed your email account details as requested below. To complete your account re-confirmation, you must reply to this email immediately and enter your account details as requested below.
